HIPERZAB is launched to create the first electrically rechargeable zinc-air battery
- The European Project HIPERZAB, funded by the European Research and Innovation Programme (GA nº 101115421) has held the kick-off meeting in Vito…
The main goal of HIPERZAB is to develop an Electrically Rechargeable Zn-Air Battery (ERZAB) ideal for mid-term storage (days/weeks) to be coupled with renewables and electrolysers. HIPERZAB will achieve an actual paradigm shift with respect to the battery performance, lifetime, safety, sustainability, and costs of liquid electrolyte-based Zn-Air Batteries (ZABs) through the investigation of three innovative components: 3D porous Zn/biopolymer composite anode, eco-friendly bilayer gel biopolymer electrolyte, and CRM-free structured cathode
HIPERZAB is led by CIC energiGUNE with the close collaboration of a multidisciplinary consortium of 6 partners that belong to both European and non European countries, and they cover the whole value chain from basic knowledge to prototype development and testing; from materials development to component processing, assembly, and battery fabrication.
